Therapeutic Focus

Prosidion is developing safer, more effective, innovative products for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity. The product pipeline currently supports a number of active programmes in pre-clinical and clinical development.

Development strategies focus on having proof of principle pharmacodynamic end-points built into very early studies with the potential to reduce development time from lead molecule identification to proof-of-concept in patients (Phase IIa).  Building an early understanding of the biology allows intelligent design of subsequent studies.

Prosidion also benefits from a strong management team with extensive knowledge and experience in the development and commercialisation of drugs for diabetes which complements the core scientific and development teams.

Product Pipeline

Prosidion’s lead compound is PSN821, an orally administered G protein-coupled receptor GPR119 agonist, currently in development for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.  PSN821 has been shown in preclinical animal disease models to substantially lower blood glucose, reduce food intake and reduce bodyweight.  It therefore has the potential to fulfil an unmet medical need in type 2 diabetes by causing meaningful weight loss in addition to substantial glucose lowering.
