OSI’s diabetes and obesity research and development programs are carried out through our wholly-owned UK-based subsidiary, Prosidion. Our business strategy for the diabetes and obesity programs is to progress our research projects through clinical proof-of-concept studies with a view to potential out-licensing or partnering of these programs for upfront fees, milestones and royalties.
In-licensing
We will continue to expand our portfolio of projects and product candidates in the fields of metabolic disease, type 2 diabetes and obesity.
Companies or academic institutions with promising programs and/or strong intellectual property that might be of interest are invited to contact the Company.
Out-Licensing & Partnership
OSI acquired the DP-IV platform technology from Probiodrug AG, which includes a portfolio of issued and pending medical use patents with claims covering DP-IV as a target, and use of combinations of DP-IV inhibitors with other oral anti-diabetic drugs such as metformin. To date, several pharmaceutical companies have been granted non-exclusive licenses to this patent estate including Merck (with its products Januvia™ and Janumet™, the combination with metformin), Novartis (with its product Galvus® being granted approvable status in February 2007 pending additional studies), together with seven other pharmaceutical companies. Non-exclusive licenses are available to suitable parties.
In addition to out-licensing the DP-IV patent estate, we recently out-licensed our glucokinase activator, or GKA, program, including our clinical candidate PSN010, which is in Phase I studies, to Eli Lilly and Company.
All inquiries about in-licensing candidates, IP licensing or co-development projects should be addressed to busdev@prosidion.com.
