Prosidion Limited, a subsidiary of Astellas Pharma Inc., is a research driven Biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery and development of novel therapies for type 2 diabetes and obesity.  We have a pipeline of innovative drug candidates that have progressed into clinical development, most notably PSN821, a GPR119 agonist for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. The biological research focus of neuroendocrine control of body weight and glycaemia, combined with special expertise in the area of designed multiple ligands is geared to deliver novel, innovative first or best-in class therapies for type 2 diabetes and obesity.

Based in Oxford, UK, Prosidion is led by a talented management team with extensive experience in diabetes research, development, commercialisation and licensing. Prosidion’s core research competencies include assay development, compound screening, in vitro biology, pharmacology, bioanalysis and ADME, medicinal chemistry, scale-up and computational chemistry, and molecular modeling. Development competencies include all preclinical, CMC and clinical disciplines.

Location

The Oxford site currently employs more than 100 professionals, the majority of whom are in research. The facility is close to Oxford's world-recognised centre of academic excellence and within one of the UK's longest established biotechnology hubs. The city boasts a wide range of cultural activities and sporting facilities within easy reach. The Company is based in a state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility on the eastern side of the City.

1983: Aston Molecules Ltd formed in Birmingham, UK
1996: OSI Pharmaceuticals Inc acquires Aston Molecules (and changes it’s name to OSI Pharmaceuticals UK Ltd)
2001: OSI Pharmaceuticals UK Ltd moves to Oxford: acquisition of facilities, staff and other assets from British Biotech
2002: Formation of Prosidion Ltd with a key focus on diabetes and obesity
2005: Prosidion Ltd becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of OSI Pharmaceuticals Inc.
2010 (June): OSI Pharmaceuticals Inc. / Prosidion Ltd. became a member of the Astellas global group of companies
2011: Prosidion transformed into a stand-alone business focused on diabetes and obesity
